My name is Jen. I identify as a nurse, a mom, a wife, a daughter, a friend, child of God, a lifelong student and steward of the earth and its inhabitants. I look forward to learning more about how nursing as a profession can leverage our positions to effect policy change, and represent our planet as scientists and activists.

    Jen, I love this posting about doing the most good everywhere. It helps me reflect that sometimes I do not stop to do the most good every time, everywhere or with everyone. This is the basis for Christianity, yet sometimes I forget. Thank you for reminding me!

However, it says that my iphone "has been tested and maintains and meets applicable limits for radio frequency (RF) exposure" But How do I know? What does the evidence say about this? Blog #1 My Home Assessment

Did you discover any environmental risks in your home by completing the home assessment ? Yes! By completing my home assessment I realized many things about my current home, and considered past risks associated with my many living situations throughout my life.  My current home was built in 2014- although the original 1942 structure still partially exists. Our living room and original foundation/roof were retained when we purchased and remodeled our home into it's current modern iteration. The old windows, interior paint were all removed. The exterior paint still remains, deeply buried under many layers. I also wonder if the original insulation still remains inside the walls... We do not have a basement or attic that is accessible. But the crawl space under the home is where we store many items. Christmas decorations/lights/lawn tools/ chemicals and old paint cans. We do not use a pesticide company but do locally spray pesticides around areas of our home in response to ants/...

How can we strengthen our voice as nurses for climate change? A 2018 article by the American Academy of Nursing on Policy recommended 8 principles for nurses to take a lead on bringing this critically important issue to the forefront: 1. Reduce sources of pollution that contribute to climate change . a. Mobilize, focus, incentivize, and increase national funding for climate protective actions. b. Oppose any rollback of climate protective polices addressing fuel economy standards, power plant emissions, and other sources of atmospheric carbon. c. Support climate protective initiatives at the community level, emphasizing the needs of populations and communities most affected. d. Advocate for community actions to incorporate renewable sources of energy, more fuel-efficient options for transportation, waste management, agricultural and forest management, and more energy-efficient buildings. e.
